ok lets start with happy things..
i finally passed my BTT!!! whoohoo! -jumpsforjoy- hee my second attempt. was so scared to press "end test" at first cos i was worried they'll tell me i failed again. but whoopee! haha this is the day
alvan was waiting for too. cos he has to wait for me to go final together. haha. :)
ok now for the rantings..
seriously, i have no idea why some pple just cant have more sense in them.
i mean..does the word
RESPECT mean anything??
i dont blame the host. i mean, one cant exactly tell your guests what to do all the time right?
in fact, i know that the host is also in a difficult position.
but hello, doesnt anyone in the midst of their teens already know what the meaning of
school day?? oh wait..more like..
school NIGHT?? it's not the hols you know. sure. having gatherings during the hols are understandable. but even when school has begun?? its normal to have gatherings to study. its normal to have gatherings once in a while to get together, have fun, movie marathons etc. but not when its every single weekend and now, even in the weekdays.
guests are definitely welcomed..but not if they dominate the whole place, leaving my poor parents to hide in the room not being able to do anything. why? cos no one bothers to leave any space for them to sit, and the tv'll be hogged the whole day. and when the place is messed up, does anyone bother to clean it up? no! i know there's the maid, but still.
each time, the purpose of gathering together is to study. sure..it definitely wouldnt be studying all the time. its understandable. but when its' time to study, there's such thing called the dining table with chairs. does anyone bother to listen and go over there to do their work? no! my parents are not the unfriendly kind. they love mingering around. they love bringing pple out for meals. no matter how big a group. my parents, with their big generous heart, didnt mind sending pple back home. no matter how late. no matter how far the distance may be. but then, pple take their generosity for granted. their home gets taken over. their time with their daughter gets taken over. in fact, whose not to say that their daughter isnt taken away from them?
sure..if after reading this, you start feeling scared to come over, ask yourselves this question please.
didnt you cause your own fear to begin with?
this has nothing to do with fierce scary domineering parents.
this has to do with the very BASIC OF THE BASIC manners and respect given to people.
to the people in the house, to the host. and to think the host is your friend.
when its time for dinner, no one wants to go. why?? oh..cos the work isnt done yet. we want to study.
and what happened to the afternoon? oh..we watched tv, bummed round the house etc. geez.
then, happily stay till 12plus IN THE MORNING before going back.
if this is a once in awhile thing, fine. lost track of time, fine.
but every weekend?? spare a thought please. there's no longer any private time in the house.
no longer any FAMILY TIME. even going out for dinners in one big group would help. not as if my parents are going to expect anyone to pay. instead, everyone would rather call in pizza, or eat maggi mee.
i wonder..when no one is at home, and pizza is ordered..does everyone go dutch? or just happily assume that each time, my parents would just pay for it. even if the host pays for it, eventually, the money will be paid for by my parents. i should know. i helped to pay for it once. and no, no one paid me back for it. 35bucks.
imagine..that is just one time. multiply the number of times you order pizza.. how much would that add up to.
seriously, grow up people. my parents are friendly people. for those who've known them for a few years now, you should know that my parents gladly welcome pple to their house. they werent like this before. what changed them? is because while in the past, there was respect given to them and manners shown, now, there isnt anymore.
their simple requests arent' met, NO ONE bothers to listen, NO ONE regards them.. even when the WHOLE HOUSE BELONGS TO THEM. if anyone is mature enough, you'll actually understand what i'm trying to say here. it's not just me or my parents who notice anything..honestly, even people who arent always here at the house can see what's going on. can question.."how come you (to my parents) or your parents (to me) dont mind at all?".
just think about it..if this situation was happening in your house..whereby your parents no longer have any say anymore..your friends dominate the whole house..EVERY WEEKEND, and then during weekdays too..and stay till super late at night. how would you feel? and then you find yourself drifting away from your parents..you find yourself having to constantly face your parents frustration without understanding why. and then you find yourself starting to feel miserable too. how would you feel?
the host is your friend. spare a thought for her too. she no longer has time to spend with the family anymore. this is not the first time she has friends over. big group of friends. yet why is it this time, this group of friends cant seem to mingle well with my parents? when i say family time, i actually mean that my parents welcome everyone into the family..to go out together. its just to have dinner. is that so difficult? also..at the rate all this is going on..is it helping your studies? if only anyone notices..this is no longer called a study group. be honest with yourself..how productive are you.
if the host is your friend, your good friend, dont put her in a difficult position please.
dont get me wrong..all are still welcomed to the house. to the home.
but all you need to do is to act as nice normal well brought up human beings. simple.
i love each and every one of you.
from the bottom of my heart. especially if you've been close to the family since many years back.
and if you have, then all the more you should understand what i've been saying.
whatever la just go reflect pls.
